Communion & Confirmation Parties

With First Communion's and Confirmation's being held in the coming weeks it made me think about how different things are nowadays compared to when I made my Communion and Confirmation.

When I made my Communion (quite a while ago now :)) I attended the Communion Mass and then went to visit all my aunties and uncles where I would receive a card with money inside. Then it was off home to count the money!!

These days it is very popular to have a Communion or Confirmation Party after the celebratory mass. If you have never held a Communion or Confirmation Party you can see what other families are doing to celebrate the day at this forum

In general families seem to either have a celebratory dinner at home or book a restaurant and invite close friends and relatives to attend. Either way the parent(s) of the child making their Communion or Confirmation will need to send out invitations a few weeks before the big day with RSVP details so you know how many you will be catering for.

You can purchase Communion and Party decorations and favours from you local party supply store. You can also purchase some fabulous Communion and Confirmation cakes. Have a look at your local bakery or there are plenty of online cake makers to choose from.

Remember though, much like that of a wedding, First Holy Communion or Confirmation is a religious ceremony and the significance of this day is what counts. So, whether you choose to do something intimate or extravagant, plan it with your child in mind, and it will be a special day that you and your child will remember always.

Organising a Birthday Party - The Do's and Don'ts

I have my twins 6th birthday coming up soon. Well it's actually in April but I love to be organised and usually start thinking about themes etc a couple of months in advance! Organising a childs party can be very stressful, especially if you leave it too late to start organising the day.

Some of the things to consider are:

1. How much to you want to spend?
2. Choosing a day to hold the party
3. The Theme, Entertainment & Activities you would like to have.
4. Where you want to hold the party?
5. Deciding how many guests there will be and ordering the invitations.
6. Deciding on a time scale for the party.
7. Deciding what foods to serve.
8. Choosing the right birthday cake.
9. Organising the party bags for guests.
10. Ordering and sending out Thank You Cards.

To help you successfully orgainise your next child's party we have put together a guide that will help you from start to finish. You can download this FREE ebook - A Complete Guide to Successful Children's Parties - HERE
